PowerPoint
Prior to the P.G.C.E I was confident using PowerPoint and thus for the purpose of my pathway presentation I created a PowerPoint presentation, complete with audio sounds of crashing waves, to discuss issues with regard to teaching and learning.
Powerpoint is useful for presentations as it enables the user to create a series of slides to depict key information. I have seen PowerPoint used in the classroom as a tool for pupils to work collaboratively to create presentations.
As well as this, I have also seen the use of Keynote, an app available on iPads, iPhones and iPods.

I then used some of the information from the above PowerPoint to create my first attempt at a Prezi presentation. Prezi has a zooming canvas that allows users to make their presentations more dynamic, allowing the audience a more interactive learning experience.
Following my experience I feel Prezi may be used by older pupils as it can be somewhat difficult to navigate, yet it allows users to explore their ideas in a non-linear fashion and can be used as a tool for collaborative learning.

Keynote
Keynote is a app available on iPads which can be used to create interactive presentations quickly and simply. Keynote is a fantastic presentation app and a great tool which can be used to promote collaborative activities and group work in the classroom. Using Keynote children can present their work in engaging ways and create transitions, video and 3D charts. The app also contains templates for easy use, possibly by younger children or children who are not as confident with using ICT, and files are easy to share with PC users and Microsoft Office.
During GPP my class used Keynote on the iPads to create group presentations about different countries for a cross-curricular geography and ICT lesson. There are more details on this in the ICT on placement section which can be found here. The clip below is a short example of a Keynote presentation done by a group of children in my GPP class.

Although these presentational applications are attractive and interactive to use, it is important to remember that they are not a substitute for knowing and teaching knowledge, rather they should be encouraged to be used as a support for a presentation as opposed to a replacement.
