Previous Experience
Educational Teaching Assistant - I worked ina junior school with a visually impaired child, a EAL child with anger management, a child with development difficulties and two children with ADHD. I also taught phonics and guided reading and ran the breakfast club as well as the SULP and SEAL programmes. I also did a few sessions of family SEAL where the parents came into school and worked with the children on collaborative projects. The expereinces I gained as a TA gave me the drive to complete my P.G.C.E course and it was one of the best decisions I have made.
Volunteer Classroom Assistant - I gained practical knowledge and indispensable skills with regard to assisting in the classroom to help the teacher with delivering lessons and at the same time helping children with their work.
Counter Clerk, Post Office - I served customers and dealt with queries and concerns which has enabled me to communicate effectively with people from all ages and backgrounds. I was responsible for large amounts of cash and stock, cashing up, business and personal banking, and ensuring cash balances at the end of the day were correct. This has enabled me to gain experience in finance, accounts and management.
Post Office Manager - I managed a small sub-office for two years and this experience enabled me to further enhance my good judgement and management skills in delegating tasks and making weighed decisions. I also learnt how to manage individuals and meet the needs of both the staff, business and customers.
Sales Assistant, New Look Retailers - Nine years experience as part of a sales and customer service team, requiring knowledge of business procedures and structures of one of the most successful international companies. My main responsibilities included dealing with complaints, arranging and merchandising stock. Progressed to responsibility for training new members of staff.
Customer Service Officer, Yorkshire Bank Plc - I worked as a bank cashier, dealing with customers face to face on a daily basis helping them with their banking whilst simultaneously dealing with personal information and sensitive data.· This position enabled me to enhance my organisational and interpersonal skills as well as making me more goal orientated toward achieving both personal and team targets.
Volunteer Assistant, Scope Cerebral Palsy Charity - I worked in a charity shop for 2 years in order to help raise money for Scope and disabled people. This was hugely rewarding work and enabled me to help others.
My previous experiences have taught me numerous life skills as well as how to maintain good personal relationships with team members whilst working in a stressful environment. I have also developed excellent interpersonal communication skills when dealing with individuals’ needs and requirements as well as good organisational skills.
